HOW TO ADOPT

*An application must be filled out during the adoption interview.
*Please be prepared to provide photo id with current address.
*Not all pets are suited to all owners. Every effort will be made to match the right pet with the right owner.
*Adoptions may take up to 48 hours but the process may be expedited for out of town adopters at the discretion of Rescue North.
*We reserve the right to deny adoptions.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT PET

* Not all pets are suitable for homes with small children or other
  Animals.
* It is important to familiarize yourself with the behavior traits common to the pet or breed that you are interested in.
*All pets, particularly dogs, require some training and discipline. Make sure you are informed and up to the task. Dog Obedience training is available in many communities.
* High energy pets reguire more attention and exercise. Large dogs require access to the outdoors as well as more space indoors.
* The adoption fee is a minor expense of pet ownership. The cost of food, supplies, and veterinary care for the type, breed and size of animal should be carefully considered.
* Someone who travels a lot, works long hours or moves frequently should consider whether a pet will fit into their lifestyle.

Pet ownership is a serious commitment that continues for the entire life of the pet not just as long as it is convenient. They are not disposable and the decision to surrender an animal to a shelter should never be taken lightly. Many of these animals remain unadopted for lengthy periods of time, and some even develop serious behavioral and/or health problems that ultimately lead to a decision to euthanize. Please consider carefully whether you are ready for the responsibility, financially and otherwise. Every pet deserves to be treated like a member of the family in a permanent, loving home.
